COVID-19 Business News Update - May 6, 2020

Here are the latest COVID-19 business news headlines from Crow Legal.

Colorado:

  • CBS Denver reports on what local restaurants are doing to operate under current restrictions.  Also explained are plans for some restaurants when they are allowed to open in individual counties and across the state.

  • Denver has announced guidelines for transitioning to “safer-at-home” on May 9, 2020.  Denverite details what the transition will look like and which businesses will be reopening and when.

  • PEW Trusts explains how new laws in Colorado and elsewhere adapt to COVID-19 when it comes to some workers. While some states promise to cut benefits to anyone, regardless of risk, who refuses a job, Colorado is doing the opposite.  Under Colorado’s new guidelines, unemployment will continue for those who cannot work a job if they are unsafe because of COVID-19.

National:

  • Could there be some hope for business interruption insurance claims?  Insurance Journal describes pending litigation and debates what counts as “physical damage” for purposes of these claims.

  • Law.com reports that there are more class-action suits being filed against insurers.  The insurers allegedly are wrongfully denying business interruption claims.  Three more cases were filed in New Jersey recently, joining ones from around the country.
